Melissa & Xengkeng | Catch of a Lifetime | The Lodge at the Rock, Franklin, WI

Smiles. That was all we saw that day—from the moment we walked into the Lodge at the Rock—until the moment we left that night. Melissa and Xengkeng wear such warm smiles and have a contagious energy about them that you can’t help but take in. We chatted and joked alongside them all day long. As we took in the gorgeous views from the window and said our hellos to their family and friends, they were wrapping up the finishing details to their wedding day. Details which Melissa designed and created herself. Being designers and artists ourselves, we just loved it! A wedding is a day where you get to celebrate you and your significant other. A day to just be you. We loved that they truly showed us that. Melissa’s beautiful wedding dress was accompanied by an elegant lace cape that flowed with the wind, while Xengkeng kept it simple in an all black suit. And dressed the part to stand along side them was their amazing bridal party.

A bridal party should consist of your closest and most trusted peoples. That is precisely what Melissa and Xengkeng have done. Now if you’ve followed us for a while now, you’ll notice that the ladies of the bridal party may look familiar. That’s because they’re the same girls from Jamie and Dao’s wedding we photographed last year! The only difference is that Melissa is now the bride with Jamie as her bridesmaid. These girls have known each other for over a decade and are the best of friends. They have done everything together and can now add Melissa’s wedding to that list. The guys are just as close as the girls, if not closer, from the stories we were told at reception. Xengkeng’s boys were everything you could ask for when it comes to your bros. Sleepovers, fishing trips, road trips, and of course weddings. They wouldn’t miss it for the world.

There were a couple reoccurring topics like anime and fishing that came up during the day too, but one of them definitely took the cake. It was that everyone had been waiting years and years and years for this day to happen and they were all overjoyed to finally see it. The speeches were heartwarming with a hint of sarcasm and jokes but through it all, we got a glimpse of how perfect Melissa and Xengkeng were for each other and how much their families and friends loved them as well. The night flew by so fast with food and dance and a fog machine, we don’t even know how we were able to sneak them out for some amazing portraits outside. It was so magical. And that is Melissa’s love story, hook, line, and Xengkeng.

Love,

Mai See & Chee La
